Celebrating one year at Lendology

November 2 2020

This week marks my one-year anniversary working at Lendology. Strictly speaking, last year when I joined, we were known as ‘Wessex Resolutions’ but after what seems a whirlwind of a year and an exciting rebrand project, here we are, as Lendology.

After returning from my travels in South-East Asia, I knew I wanted to embark on a career in marketing and was eager to advocate my passion for this. Following my interview, I was confident that I wanted to work for Lendology, having discovered we have shared values and after learning more about how the organisation was making a positive social impact. I believed this opportunity would help me gain vital experience whilst enabling me to learn and evolve.

Last October, I started as ‘Business Admin Apprentice’ with my Level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration commencing in the new year. With a wealth of knowledge and experience between the team, I was provided with a supportive platform to enhance my skills.

When I began my apprenticeship, I didn’t find the course particularly captivating or challenging and therefore didn’t feel it was right for me. I felt quite overwhelmed and stressed about this decision, so I approached my manager and we had an open and honest conversation about how I was feeling. This gave me an opportunity to reflect on my skills and which direction I wished to pursue. With the support of management, I quit my apprenticeship and started a new role within the organisation.

In February, I began my new role as Communications Admin Assistant. My main responsibilities include maintaining our website, managing our social platforms and running successful social media campaigns, creating analytic reports and liaising with a host of creative individuals to create engaging marketing material.

Over the last year, I’ve grown so much and can’t quite comprehend how much I’ve learnt. Before I started at Lendology, I had no real experience in executing aspects of my role that I am now responsible for every day. By working across the organisation and with the team, I have developed these skills, deepened my understanding, and gained a great depth of insight into communications and a broad abundance of supplementary subjects.

2020 has been a strange year but in spite of the unnerving difficulties brought by Covid-19, the Lendology team have been nothing short of exceptional. Following the innovative ways in which we have adapted, it’s inspiring to see the commitment to supporting individuals and helping transform lives even in the darkest of times.

I’m thrilled to have been welcomed so positively into my first office job and to be continuously supported by such a wonderful team. As an organisation, we have achieved so much in such a short space of time and I’m really excited to see what the future holds.
