Happy Energy Efficiency Day!

October 2 2024

As we celebrate Energy Efficiency Day on 2nd October, we at Lendology reflect on the vital importance of energy efficiency in our homes and communities. With rising energy costs, making energy-efficient home improvements can lead to significant savings on your energy bills while also sometimes benefiting the environment.

At Lendology, we are committed to fostering sustainable living through effective partnerships. By collaborating with our council partners, we empower homeowners to implement energy-efficient solutions that help to save money and enhance community resilience. Together, we are taking meaningful steps towards creating more sustainable neighbourhoods, one home at a time.

Start Your Journey to an Energy-Efficient Home

Here are some practical ideas to help you embark on your journey toward a more energy-efficient home:

  • Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances: Selecting appliances that consume less energy can yield substantial savings over time.
  • Insulate your home: Adequate insulation helps retain warmth during colder months, reducing the need for heating.
  • Install renewable technologies: Consider incorporating solar panels to harness renewable energy, which can help lower your carbon footprint.
  • Explore heat pumps: Ground source or air source heat pumps can efficiently heat your home, providing comfort while helping to reduce energy costs.

Empowering Homeowners: A Success Story

We are proud to share the inspiring story of Mrs. B from Exeter, who partnered with Lendology and Exeter City Council to transform her home into an eco-friendly haven. With a vision to create an energy-efficient household, Mrs. B incorporated advanced retrofit measures, including:

  • Air source heat pump
  • Underfloor heating
  • Photovoltaic solar panels
  • Solar-charging battery
  • Comprehensive heat recovery and ventilation system
  • Wheelchair accessibility features

Mrs. B approached Lendology for financial assistance to cover the VAT associated with her retrofit measures. Thanks to our collaboration with Exeter City Council, she secured the necessary funding to achieve her dream.

Mrs. B beautifully articulated her motivation:

“I suppose I was brought up to think that you should give something back. I like to think that I’m fairly well-educated, and therefore I feel I should be educating other people. And one of the things you can do is, do it by showing them the way.”

Today, Mrs. B lives in an exceptionally energy-efficient home, exemplifying how community-driven initiatives and effective financing solutions can lead to sustainable living options.

We recommend that you conduct an independent retrofit assessment to establish whether any works that you may be planning to adapt your property are likely to be suitable for your property and goals.

Representative Example (4% fixed interest rate, Representative 4.2% APR).

Loans are subject to status and are typically protected by a Title Restriction. Borrow £5,000 over 60 months, £92.08 monthly repayments. Total amount repayable = £5,544.96, including £20 fee for registering the Title Restriction against your property at the Land Registry. The £20.00 fee is only payable if a loan is agreed by Lendology and you decide to proceed with a loan. We do not charge interest on the fee. A Title Restriction means that you may not be able to sell your home without our permission unless the loan is fully repaid. This is a financial promotion approved by Lendology CIC. Missing payments could affect your credit rating and ability to obtain credit in the future.
