Earlier this year, West Yorkshire Combined Authority partnered with social enterprise Lendology to deliver the Home Energy West Yorkshire initiative, which provides low-interest loans to help residents make vital energy-efficiency upgrades.
On October 8th, Lendology CEO Emma Lower and COO Ellie Lister visited the West Yorkshire Combined Authority office in Leeds to present a £1,000 donation to Energy Heroes, a Leeds-based charity dedicated to educating schoolchildren about climate change and promoting sustainable habits from an early age.
The Home Energy West Yorkshire loan scheme offers West Yorkshire residents to invest in their homes while reducing their energy costs. Open to homeowners and private landlords, the loans cover a wide range of energy-saving measures, including solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps, and insulation enhancements. By making energy-efficient upgrades more accessible, the program supports the Combined Authority’s efforts to tackle the climate emergency while helping residents save on rising energy bills.
Lendology’s donation will specifically fund a new initiative called Energy Heroes Television (EHTV). Through this creative project, Energy Heroes will work with local primary schools to produce short, pupil-led videos where KS2 pupils share what they’ve learned about energy conservation and environmental protection.
Emma Lower, CEO of Lendology, added.
“It’s so exciting to partner with West Yorkshire Combined Authority on the Home Energy West Yorkshire initiative, helping residents make sustainable home improvements that are both accessible and impactful. Supporting Energy Heroes with this donation is especially meaningful because it aligns with our mission to foster climate action at every level—from the youngest members of our community to homeowners investing in energy efficiency.”
The Home Energy West Yorkshire loan scheme is open to homeowners and private landlords across the region. For more details on the loan scheme or to apply, visit the West Yorkshire Combined Authority website or Lendology at https://www.lendology.org.uk/partner/view/wyca/
