For some homeowners, the sound of rain on the roof is a cause of despair. Regular roof and guttering maintenance is not at the top of anyone’s to-do list, but it is critical to ensuring your home remains dry and effectively shields the rain.

Whilst the upcoming Green Homes Grant Scheme announced by the Government is likely to cover loft insulation, it appears unlikely that the grant will cover roof repairs and so homeowners will still be required to fund these essential home repairs themselves.

Replacement roofs are one of the most costly repairs, with re-thatching being particularly pricey. Contractors are also extremely busy in the winter months and so it is good practice to think about sourcing quotes and funding for repairs in the summer/autumn months.
