Bathroom improvements help Wiltshire homeowner keep her independence

Loan Scheme:Home Improvement Loan

Location:Westbury

Partner:Wiltshire Council

Mrs M, a homeowner in Westbury, contacted Wiltshire council to find out what help was available to make her bathroom more accessible. She wanted to take out the existing shower and replace it with a user-friendly shower system. Whilst adapting her bathroom to make it suitable for her needs, she also wanted to replace the existing tiles and flooring.

With her pension as her sole income, Mrs M didn’t feel it was likely she would be able to fund the disabled facilities work without the bathroom improvement loan. Now feeling positive, independent, and safer at home she said, “My bathroom is clean and easy to use. Visitors admire it and it looks modern. I am now less likely to have an accident at home and I can shower every day.”

Her advice to other homeowners considering contacting Lendology for help funding essential home repairs would be: “Go for it! The repayments are made for your budget. The Lendology adviser was friendly and helpful.”

Lendology encourages all Disabled Facilities Loan applications to explore the option of a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)in the first instance.  To find out more about a Disabled Facilities Grant in Wiltshire, visit their website.

For people not eligible for a DFG, our Disabled Facilities Loan Scheme may be a good option.  Find out more here.
