2019/20 has been a year of transformation and success for Wessex, with a significant amount being lent reaching £1,664,909 for only the second time in our 15- year history. Although we’re proud of that figure, we wanted to take a deeper look into how lending this money has changed people’s lives, as this is the real reason why Wessex exists.

- It is estimated that more than 4,000,000 UK households are struggling to afford to meet their basic needs for comfort and warmth at home.
- 15% of all wheelchair users live in a non-decent home.
- The impact of cold homes and poor housing costs the NHS in England £1.4 billion per year.
To understand the social impact and value we have on our clients, their homes and within wider communities, we have identified the following key areas to measure our impact.
From investing in training our team members, donations to local causes, our focus on inclusion to increasing our strong network of partners, we have put in the groundwork to ensure that we continue to support as many people as possible over the next 12 months.
459 people have improved housing conditions, 66 people were signposted to other agencies who could support them better, and with £1,095,234 of capital repaid by our existing clients, this can now be lent to help other local people.
