Lending Done Differently

What do we know so far about the Green Homes Grant?

Written by Emma Lower, Chief Executive

With the recent Government announcement revealing a new ‘Green Homes Grant’ to be launched in September 2020, it is not surprising that there has been a lot of interest in the specific details of the scheme.  Particularly, we all want to know the types of works that will be covered, along with the type of properties and households eligible to apply.

Early news releases suggest that properties with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated E, F, or G are going to be the focus of funding.  It also appears that the focus will be on part-funding renewable energy measures, such as air source heat pumps, or first-time installation of fossil burning heating systems or their repair.

We have ourselves received a lot of interest in the scheme although as a lender, we will not be participating in the grant application process.  However, we are able to consider ‘topping-up’ grant funding with a loan to ensure homeowners can fully fund the works. For more information about our loan scheme and top-up loans for energy efficiency works to your home do contact us.

The Green Home Grant Scheme will be administered by Simple Energy Advice which is a Government endorsed service.  For the latest information on eligibility, application, and the types of work covered visit Simple Energy Advice here.
