Meet Rupert, Rupert lives in a thatched home that has been passed down through generations of his family.
“Every generation has had to thatch, because it normally lasts between 20 and 40 years.”
Knowing that the time would come to replace the thatch, Rupert had always been aware that it would be a significant job and a financial burden.
“It was always a worry.. but there was never really enough spare money to set aside for it”.
The time came to carry out the work
A hole in the roof meant the work could no longer wait, so Rupert began looking into how he might manage the cost. Specialist work like thatching can sometimes be harder to fund through mainstream finance, so Rupert began exploring other options. During his search, he came across a council-supported scheme and learned about Lendology.
“I was lucky enough to find an advertisement for Lendology who said they could arrange some financing for the thatch”.
“I had heard that applying for loans can be quite difficult, but in fact with Lendology it seemed very easy to fill in and complete the forms”
With the work completed, Rupert describes a sense of relief.
“Having the work completed on the house is a great relief… and it means there’s less to worry about for my daughter when she inherits it.”
For Rupert, the improvements are not just about maintaining the property, but about protecting it for the future.
