Storm Damage Left Me Stuck – A Home Improvement Loan Helped Me Move On

Key Information

When a sudden storm damaged the roof of her Barnstaple home, a homeowner from Barnstaple faced urgent repairs and rising costs. She needed fast, flexible funding to protect her home and prepare it for sale. With a home improvement loan funded by North Devon Council and delivered by Lendology, she was able to fix her roof quickly, reduce stress, and move forward with confidence.

After storm damage left her roof at risk, she knew something had to be done.

“The work had to be carried out as soon as possible,” she explained. “If left, the roof would have fallen into further disrepair resulting in higher costs.”

While exploring options to fund urgent roof repairs, she came across Lendology

“I had not heard of Lendology before this time.”

She had considered other finance options but knew they wouldn’t suit her circumstances.

“Most loans have such strict or specific criteria, and I knew I needed to speak with a human being to explain my circumstances and hoped they would be taken into consideration.”

“They made it very clear to me that personal circumstances are considered and that they were not the usual ‘one size fits all’ lending organisation.”

She was particularly reassured by how personal and flexible the process felt, especially compared to traditional lenders.

Once her home improvement loan was approved, she was able to proceed with her chosen contractor.

“The work was carried out within a day of obtaining the loan which made a huge difference to my stress levels, knowing I’m watertight and also being able to get the house on the market finally.”

As part of the loan application, a contractor quote is required. Homeowners can line up their preferred contractor in advance, and once the loan is approved, payment is made directly to the contractor after the work is completed.

She felt supported throughout the process.

“Everyone I spoke with were very personable and my caseworker who took me through the application and assessment was outstanding, I felt heard and knew I was in the right place.”

She was also impressed with how smooth the experience was.

“The interest rates are low and very favourable; the team are extremely efficient and the speed of loan once successful was very quick. Should I require any maintenance work in the future, I shall be speaking with Lendology first.”

Representative Example (4% fixed interest rate, Representative 4.2% APR).

Loans are subject to status and are typically protected by a Title Restriction.

Borrow £5,000 over 60 months, £92.08 monthly repayments. Total amount repayable = £5,544.96, including £20 fee for registering the Title Restriction against your property at the Land Registry. The £20.00 fee is only payable if a loan is agreed by Lendology and you decide to proceed with a loan. We do not charge interest on the fee. A Title Restriction means that you may not be able to sell your home without our permission unless the loan is fully repaid. This is a financial promotion approved by Lendology CIC. Missing payments could affect your credit rating and ability to obtain credit in the future.

The interest rates are low and very favourable; the team are extremely efficient and the speed of loan once successful was very quick. Should I require any maintenance work in the future, I shall be speaking with Lendology first.
