Lendology CIC has donated £500 to local charity Thinking Works through its partnership with Merton Council. The funding supports residents facing fuel poverty in Merton and helps them improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Supporting households facing fuel poverty in Merton
Thinking Works is a local not-for-profit organisation that helps vulnerable households tackle fuel poverty in Merton. The charity focuses on improving energy efficiency and reducing energy costs. Commissioned by Merton Council, the organisation provides advice and practical support to residents who may be struggling with energy costs or living in homes that are expensive to heat.
Local partners often refer residents who need extra support to Giles Read and his team at Thinking Works. As a result, households receive guidance to improve the comfort and efficiency of their homes.
“Organisations like Thinking Works play a vital role in supporting residents who may be struggling with fuel costs or living in homes that are expensive to heat. By working together with Merton Council and local partners, we can help more households access the support they need to improve their homes and reduce energy costs.”

Meanwhile, Merton Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Civic Pride and Climate Change, Councillor Eleanor Stringer, said:
“We welcome Lendology’s donation to Thinking Works, who provide a vital service to residents in Merton facing fuel poverty.
The Home Energy Efficiency Loan, funded by Merton Council and managed by Lendology CIC, is the only one of its kind in London. Merton recognised that while many residents own their homes, finding the money to invest in energy-saving improvements isn’t always easy, and traditional bank finance can be hard to access.”
Helping homeowners improve energy efficiency in Merton
Merton Council also works with Lendology CIC to deliver a Home Energy Efficiency Loan scheme for homeowners in the borough. The Council funds the scheme, while Lendology manages it through its partnership with local authorities to support housing improvements.
These initiatives form part of wider efforts to tackle fuel poverty in Merton. They help homeowners access practical advice, funding and support to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes.
Lendology CIC works with councils across the UK to manage council-funded loan schemes. These schemes help homeowners repair, adapt and improve their homes, including energy efficiency upgrades. In addition, these partnerships help councils address issues such as fuel poverty, housing quality and climate targets. They also ensure residents can access responsible finance where appropriate.
