Lending Done Differently

Council supporting homeowners with new heating systems

Written by Emma Lower, Chief Executive

Now that the colder weather has arrived, information is available for homeowners in the area about a loan scheme to help with replacing or installing heating systems.

The loan scheme is open to homeowners who currently heat their homes with gas, oil, Calor gas, LPG, electric or other sources and to those who do not currently have central heating installed. Eligible applicants can choose their own contractor, and there are a range of loan options available which may be suitable depending on individual circumstances.

The loans are delivered through Lendology CIC, a not-for-profit Responsible Finance provider working in partnership with the council. The partnership has been in place for over fifteen years and has supported homeowners with a range of heating improvements, from replacing boilers to installing full heating systems, including in off-gas properties. This has also included measures such as air source heat pumps.

Through this scheme, funds are repaid and made available again to support other homeowners in the future

For some households, grant funding for heating improvements may be available through schemes such as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO). Lendology do not administer this scheme but if we believe you may be eligible for boiler grant funding elsewhere, we would always signpost you first.  some cases, customers may choose to use a loan alongside grant funding to cover any shortfall. Further information on grants and energy-saving measures, such as insulation, may be available via independent sources.

We recommend that you carry out an independent retrofit assessment to find out which works are suitable for your home and budget.

Taking out a loan means you will need to make repayments over time, so it is important to consider whether this is affordable for your circumstances.

Loans are subject to status and are typically protected by a Title Restriction. Missing payments could affect your credit rating and your ability to obtain credit in the future.

A Title Restriction means that you may not be able to sell your home without permission unless the loan is fully repaid.

This is a financial promotion approved by Lendology CIC.
