Bulk Buy Fuel Loans for Heating Oil and Off-Grid Fuel

Written by Emma Lower, Chief Executive

If you are one of the UK’s 1.3 million-plus households that rely on heating oil or another off-gas heating system, you may be interested in our bulk buy fuel scheme funded in partnership with Somerset Councils.

These loans offer 0% fixed interest rate (Representative 0% APR) and may help eligible homeowners to repay the cost of purchasing home fuel over an agreed period.

The cost of domestic heating fuel can vary due to a range of factors, including seasonal demand, global supply conditions, exchange rates, weather patterns and fluctuations in crude oil prices to name but a few. For some households, regularly monitoring prices and planning purchases in advance may help manage costs.

To apply for a Somerset Bulk Buy Fuel Loan, you must be either a homeowner or private tenant living in Somerset and rely on either oil, wood, Calor Gas or coal as your main source of home heating. Eligibility criteria will apply

Representative Example (0% fixed interest rate, Representative 0% APR)

Borrow £1,000 over 12 months. Monthly repayments of £83.33. Total amount repayable £1,020. Includes a £20 fee for registering a Title Restriction against your property at the Land Registry. The £20 fee is only payable if a loan is agreed and you decide to proceed. No interest is charged on the fee.

A Title Restriction means that you may not be able to sell your home without our permission unless the loan is fully repaid.

Missing payments could affect your credit rating and ability to obtain credit in the future.
