Charity lives in an older home in Higher Treween, Cornwall. Over time, its wooden windows had deteriorated, leaving the house draughty and in need of improvement.
“The house is very old. Every time I tried to clean the windows, they were just dropping in pieces. The wood was rotten.”
Charity wanted to replace the windows, but paying for the work from their own savings wasn’t an option. After discovering Lendology in a local magazine, they applied for a Cornwall Green Energy Efficient loan, funded by Cornwall Council.
Replacing the old windows with double glazing has made a noticeable difference to everyday life at home.
“The house is very, very warm, nice and cosy. Before, we could feel the wind coming through because of the windows”.
Living beside a road also meant traffic noise had previously been noticeable inside the house. Charity says the new windows have helped with that too.
“Now we’ve got double glazing, and because we live beside the road, when we’re inside we can’t even hear the traffic.. It’s made so much difference”.
Charity also noticed that the condensation they had experienced before was no longer an issue.
For Charity, having someone available to answer questions was an important part of the experience.
“Lendology, they are very, very helpful people. Anything you want to ask, they’re always very helpful.”
With the old, deteriorating windows replaced, Charity now has a home that feels warmer, quieter and more comfortable.
“We’re trying so hard to repair everything in the place. At least the house now is in good standard”.
