£14 Million to Accelerate Low-Carbon Heating: Lendology and City Science Partner Up

March 14 2023

Lendology and City Science are partnering on a project that aims to accelerate the rollout of low-carbon heating across the UK. More than £14 million is being made available to accelerate the installation of heat pumps and heat networks across the country.

As part of this project, Emma Lower, CEO at Lendology, is working with City Science in a financial advisory capacity.

Emma Lower said: “Supporting homeowners to embrace new technology is crucial to ensure we reach net zero by 2050.  However, currently there is lack of uptake due to lack of knowledge, lack of policy, lack of finance and lack of supply chain.  I am excited to be working with the team at City Science to support the development of data-driven research to change the heat pump landscape for the future”.

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Lord Callanan, said:

“This funding will give the rollout of heat pumps a huge boost by making them cheaper and easier to install, and importantly helping more households move away from costly fossil fuels.

“But we need a skilled workforce to deliver this, so we’re training thousands of people to be experts at installing heat pumps and heat networks, driving the country’s push towards net zero.

“We’re also making sure the cost of installing a heat pump is more affordable than ever before through grants of up to £6,000 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and a zero rate on VAT. So, it’s right we also put funding in place to train installers to meet demand.”

Lendology is proud to be involved in this project and to support the transition to low-carbon heating across the UK. By providing financial advisory services, Lendology is helping to make the transition to low-carbon heating more accessible to homeowners and businesses alike.

  1. […] Heat pumps have grown in popularity across the UK over the last year, with the government aiming to install 600,000 a year by 2028. At present, about 60,000 heat pumps are installed annually, with around 1% of UK households already using them. More and more people are choosing heat pumps to cut down on their carbon emissions and make their homes more energy efficient.
