Working in partnership with local councils
Energy Efficiency Loans
We understand the upfront expense of making your home more energy efficient. We are passionate about tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions, and work with you to take the stress out of funding these improvements. We see you as an individual, not a credit score.
If your application is successful, we guarantee your credit or financial situation will not mean an increased interest rate. Everyone receives the same interest rate, whether you borrow £1,000 to £15,000 or more, and no matter what your circumstances.
Talk to us today to find out if you are likely to be eligible for a loan, how much you could borrow, and the loan best suited to your circumstances. This won’t impact your credit score.
If your renewable energy measure qualifies for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payment, as a lender we are able to take this into account as income as part of your assessment. From 1 April 2020, RHI payments will be made once a week. For more information about the works that qualify under this scheme and how to apply, visit https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/domestic-rhi.

How much would you like to borrow?
Over what period of time?
The above example is for indication purposes only. We have different loan products available for eligible applicants if a capital repayment loan is unaffordable or unsuitable. Eligibility for all loans depends on your individual circumstances and your local council’s policy.
Loans are typically protected by a Title Restriction at the Land Registry for which there is a £20.00 fee. This means that you may not be able to sell your home without our permission unless the loan is fully repaid.
There are no early repayments charges. Interest is calculated daily and you can make overpayments of £100 or more at any time during your loan term.

Home Improvement Loan FAQ’s
What can I use a home improvement loan for?
Our home improvement loans cover a range of repairs, improvements or adaptations. For example, boilers, electrics, plumbing, roof repairs, thatch repairs, new kitchens and bathrooms, structural repairs, damp remedy, disability adaptations and many more. Each local council that we work with has a different policy as to the types of work they will support but these are the main types of works supported by our partners. Contact us to discuss your home repair needs and our advisers can provide more information specific to your circumstances.
I am retired. Can I apply for a home improvement loan?
Yes! There are no upper age limits so if you are a homeowner and over 18, you are welcome to apply. An adviser will visit you at home to complete a no-obligation financial assessment. We have a range of loan products which are particularly suited to retired homeowners. Find out more here or contact us today to speak to an adviser.
I have a bad credit history and/or a County Court Judgement. Can I apply for a home improvement loan?
We see you as an individual, not a credit score. Your unique circumstances will be considered during the free, no-obligation financial assessment. We will not automatically decline your application because of past financial difficulties or ongoing County Court Judgements. However, we will need to understand the circumstances and make sure that any new borrowing is responsible lending and right for you.
How much will my monthly repayments be?
This will depend on the amount you borrow, the term and the loan product that best suits your needs and means. Our loan calculator gives you an idea of repayments for our capital repayment loans. However, we have other loan products available and you can find out more about these here. Don’t worry, your adviser will discuss the options carefully during the free, no-obligation financial assessment.
I am self-employed. Can I apply for a home improvement loan?
Yes! We welcome applications from self-employed homeowners. At the free no-obligation financial assessment, your adviser will review your trading accounts and/or tax returns to understand your income and business activity.
I am in receipt of benefits as my sole income. Can I apply for a home improvement loan?
Yes! We welcome applications from homeowners in receipt of any type of income, whether that is state benefits, pensions, salary, or self-employed earnings.
Can I repay the loan early?
Yes! There are no early repayment charges or penalties. This means you can settle your loan in full at any time during the loan period; and will only pay interest up to the day you settle. You can also make lump sum reductions of £100 or more at any time to reduce your loan.
