In a recent discussion held outside the Houses of Parliament in London, our CEO, Emma Lower, met with Lord Iain McNicol to delve into the impact of Merton’s groundbreaking initiative. 

Emma introduced Lendology’s partnership with Merton Borough Council, emphasising the importance of providing accessible financial solutions for homeowners looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Lord McNicol highlighted the significant benefits of decarbonising homes, including cost savings on energy bills and a positive impact on the environment. 

During the discussion, it became clear that there is a growing readiness among residents to invest in property improvements that contribute to sustainability. Education plays a vital role in this process, as many homeowners may not be aware of the benefits and opportunities available to them. 

Decarbonising residential properties is not only essential for mitigating climate change but also for ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. With approximately 70% of UK homes still relying on high carbon products for heating and hot water, there is a pressing need for action.
